Sharp As…- Pencil Art

Posted by nextappsource on October 31, 2011

Jennifer Maestre is currently known for her sculptures made from sewing the tips of colored pencils together. Her inspiration comes from the form and function of sea urchins. She describes their spines as being “so dangerous yet beautiful, serve as an explicit warning against contact. The alluring texture of the spines draws the touch in spite of the possible consequences. The tension unveiled, we feel push and pull, desire and repulsion.” Most of these sculptures are the work of her hands, but there are some, not less beautiful, created by the talented and also in his work known artists such as Dalton Ghetti, and the Colombian artist Federico Uribe.
